Items You’ll Need
Range Bag
A good range bag can help you remain organized during range days.
Cleaning Kit
Kit should include solvent, lubrication, cleaning rod, barrel brush, cleaning brush.
D-lead Wipes
Wipes are great for removing lead contamination from hard surfaces like door knobs or steering wheels.
D-Lead Soap
Be sure to wash hands with cold water. Warm water will open the pores and allow lead contamination into the body.
Electronic Ear Protection
Good quality electronic ear protection usually has a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 28-31 decibels (dB).
Eye Protection
There are two ratings to look for when choosing a set of shooting glasses. The first is the ANSI Z87.1, mostly used for factory safety glasses. The second is MIL-PRF-31013 also known as MILSPEC glasses which offers approximately 6 times the impact protection over the ANSI rating.
Defensive Ammunition
Check out this article to get more information about why you should carry defensive ammunition for self defense.
Range/Target Ammunition

Holster and Magazine Holder
Most professional firearms practitioners prefer kydex holsters over leather or cloth.
Targets
You can make or purchase your own targets. Most targets are made out of paper or steel. Like ammunition, targets are less expensive when purchased in bulk.
Cleaning Mat
Use a cleaning mat when cleaning your firearms to avoid getting firearm residue or lead contaminants on hard surfaces.
Gun Case
Hard, lockable gun cases are great for storing and traveling with firearms.
Safe Storage
Safe firearms storage requires two key components; limiting access to unauthorized individuals and quick access to authorized individuals for self defense.
